Keep Swinging - Ed Hearn
Thursday Apr 15, 2021
Thursday Apr 15, 2021
As baseball season begins I want to have some conversations about our “National Pastime” does more for us by the players and teams who participate in the game.
Imagine being a rookie on the team that is expected to win the World Series and even being in the music video “Let’s Go Met’s Go!” He juggled his way into our hearts as the glasses wearing back-up catcher on the eventual 1986 World Champion New York Mets. That next spring, he was traded (notice the Mets have not won a World Series since – Curse of Ed Hearn ???) to the Kansas City Royals who had an impressive starting pitching staff. All seemed to be Amazing and then the world crashed. Injuries and life threatening health issues allowed Mr. Hearn to gain another perspective.
Ed Hearn shares his message that we all need to “Conquer Life’s Curves” and just Keep on Swinging. We talk about life, dropping some seeds of knowledge that he has gained outside of the diamond and how when we show up magic happens. We might even talk about the heart of a warrior and advice he received from Dan Quizenberry.
Anyone can count the seeds in one apple, but you can’t apples in one seed” – Ed Hearn

You get what you give - Jake Kubiliun
Thursday Apr 15, 2021
Thursday Apr 15, 2021
As baseball season begins I want to have some conversations about our “National Pastime” does more for us by the players and teams who participate in the game.
Being part of a team was a lesson today’s guest learned early on from his family and through life experiences. Baseball and sports have been important but knowing that is only a part of what brings us all together. Jake learned the value of people showing up in life and how communities pull together during the most trying times. Learning how to experience the highs and lows of life has created Jake to be a forward thinking and leader in his community. Being an athlete is something Jake has done but participating in the growth of others and charitable endeavors is who he is.

Gift in Me- Wanje Ivan
Wednesday Apr 07, 2021
Wednesday Apr 07, 2021
This world is sometimes a very small place where you might be able to connect with people whom you would never have connected with before. Today's guest Wanje Ivan is a man who connected with me and became an Angel in my life.
Wanje runs a NGO whose mission is to reduce the number of children dropping out of school in his community and in Uganda. He does this by creating a safe space where he can nurture and develop the talents in performance and creative arts of the local children.
Every child matters and deserves the best opportunities in life. Two-thirds of children in Uganda drop out of school before completing their primary education. 67% of children living in Kampala slums do not attend school. Out of the 91% children that enroll for primary school, 53% complete primary and only 34% complete secondary school education
Wanje and his organization is making a difference in the world
If you can support his organization and check him out on Facebook or at his website:

April is Autism Awareness month and as an effort to move the dial on stigmas around people, places and experiences involving people on the spectrum I want to invite you to meet a few amazing people who are doing their part to change the stigmas and providing safe spaces to teach and learn.
“Finding a Place You Never Have to Say Sorry” is the wish of many parents of special needs children. Dina Kimmel knew that feeling all too well, and as the parent of a son diagnosed with autism she knew that she needed to find a solution. That solution started first in her home with her husband and her remodeling the their home. Eventually it became the “home away from home” which became a respite for “her kiddos”, caregivers who wanted to “Play with a Purpose” and find a safe place where EVERYONE could be included in the fun times – We Rock the Spectrum Gyms was born! We Rock the Spectrum Gyms are now worldwide with over 100 locations in 8 countries for “People of Determination” who just want to have some fun. During this year of the pandemic, Dina and her team of heroes lead the way in their communities to bring a level of stability to lives.

Dina created a 501(c)(3) organization – My Brother Rocks the Spectrum Foundation to support children and families.

Tested to the Limit - Consolee Nishimwe
Thursday Mar 18, 2021
Thursday Mar 18, 2021
The universe aligns the right people and some of those people stick with you long after that initial meeting. Today's guest Consolee Nishimwe and I met and were fitted at a dinner party almost 6 years ago. We had a short conversation and that conversation stuck with me over the years.
Consolee discussed her survival and resilience from the 1994 Rwanda genocide that murdered close to a million Tutsis in 3 months. Think about that for a moment!
Come join us in hearing some of her journey BUT also of her resilience and how the power of love flows through her today. This episode is one of inspiration for all to gain some seeds of knowledge. She's spoken at the United Nations and was chosen by SAFE magazine as one of the 50 Global Heroes who have worked on Women's rights. While there are genocides in the world we must all make the efforts to share their stories.
